LaGuardia Airport – Drone Inspection
Queens, NY
Project overview
LaGuardia Airport underwent a massive redevelopment program to modernize its aging infrastructure. SKYPYX performed drone inspections to support the engineering team with documentation of terminal structures and airside infrastructure during active construction.
Drones enabled rapid aerial assessment of large pavement areas, terminal rooflines, and elevated structures without disrupting ongoing construction or airport operations—providing the engineering team with timely, measurable data for rehabilitation planning.
Deliverables
- Aerial inspection photography of terminal structures and control tower
- Concrete condition documentation across taxiways and apron areas
- Expansion joint and waterproofing assessment imagery
- Georeferenced data for integration with engineering workflows
- Progress records and organized deliverable package
Location & scope
LaGuardia Airport is located in Queens, New York, within FAA Class B airspace. All flight operations required coordination with air traffic control, airport authority, and active construction teams. The inspection covered terminal buildings, the control tower, and airside pavement infrastructure.
