JFK Airport Co-Gen Plant – Drone Inspection
Queens, NY
Project overview
The JFK Airport Cogeneration Plant provides efficient power and steam generation for the airport complex. This critical industrial facility required drone inspection to safely assess elevated structures and hard-to-reach equipment areas.
Drones eliminated the need for confined-space entry and elevated access equipment around active industrial systems, allowing SKYPYX to capture detailed imagery of the plant building, exhaust stacks, cooling tower, and concrete foundations efficiently and safely.
Deliverables
- Stack and cooling tower inspection photography
- Structural condition imagery of the plant building exterior
- Aerial documentation of equipment supports and foundations
- Defect records and marked-up inspection imagery
- Organized deliverable files for engineering review
Location & scope
The Cogeneration Plant is located within the JFK Airport complex in Queens, New York, within FAA Class B airspace. Flight operations required coordination with airport authority, air traffic control, and plant operations staff. The inspection covered the main plant building, exhaust stacks, cooling tower, and surrounding support structures.
