George Washington Bridge – Drone Inspection
New York, NY
Project overview
The George Washington Bridge is an iconic double-deck suspension bridge spanning the Hudson River between Manhattan and Fort Lee, New Jersey. As one of the world's busiest bridges, ongoing maintenance and structural assessment are critical to its continued operation.
SKYPYX performed a drone inspection of suspension cables, deck truss elements, concrete anchorages, and the bridge towers. Drones provided safe access to tower heights and cable zones that would otherwise require lane closures, climbers, or heavy access equipment—capturing detailed structural imagery with minimal disruption to traffic.
Deliverables
- High-resolution photography of suspension cables and tower connections
- Deck truss and anchorage condition documentation
- Georeferenced structural imagery for engineering review
- Marked-up defect documentation for rehabilitation planning
- Organized deliverable package with clear file structure
Location & scope
The George Washington Bridge spans the Hudson River between Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York and Fort Lee, New Jersey. Flight operations required coordination with the Port Authority, FAA airspace management, and active traffic lanes. The inspection covered both tower structures, main cables, deck trusses, and approach spans.
